Vlog: CHP Emissions/Hydrogen

27 January, 2021 by Evo Energy

2G have created a YouTube vlog discussing Emission control, and its high importance when operating a CHP plant. 2G with it’s strong R&D focus have developed a variety of solutions such as an own SCR systems or the aura series in order to meet a huge variety of emission requirements all over the world.

Stefan Liesner and Lisa Barber of CEM engineering present the market situation with regards to emissions and also discuss the role of hydrogen in the energy world of the future.

2G’s Hydrogen CHP awarded second place in the Environmental Economy Award NRW 2020!

18 January, 2021 by Evo Energy

2G Energy AG is the second winner of the 1st ,,Umweltwirtschaftspreis.NRW 2020″ (Environmental Economy Award of North-Rhine-Westphalia), which was awarded on December 15, 2020 by the Ministry for the Environment, Agriculture, Nature and Consumer Protection of the State of NorthRhine-Westphalia (MULNV) and the NRW.BANK.

Heek, 16.12.2020 – The North-Rhine-Westphalian (NRW) Ministry of Environment and the NRW.BANK award the „Umweltwirtschaftspreis.NRW“ to companies that combine ecological innovations with economic success in an excellent way. In 2020, the first year of the award, 80 innovative entrepreneurs from the NRW green economy applied for the award. The award ceremony took place as part of the SUMMIT green economy NRW, the annual network meeting of the environmental industry in NRW, which this year was digitally organized due to corona. From the total prize money of 60,000 EUR for the three first places, 2G Energy AG will receive 20,000 EUR for second place.

Hydrogen CHP is backbone of the energy transition

In the course of the energy transition, it is crucial to reconcile regenerative generation with its use. “When wind or sun are available, the need for electricity and heat is not always there. Conversely, the sun does not always shine or the wind does not blow when the need is actually there. It’s about bridging the time lag – and that’s where hydrogen comes into play, ”explains CEO Christian Grotholt. The surplus from wind and solar power can be converted into hydrogen and used for later use in decentralized CHP units. According to Grotholt, CHP technology is the “backbone of the energy transition”.

The retrofitting of existing systems enables affordable changes in the energy system

All hydrogen-powered CHP units are based on the established gas engine technology from 2G, which is already being successfully operated thousands of times by customers all over the world. This also enables the fuel to be changed in systems that have already been installed. CTO Frank Grewe refers to the costs of the current change in the energy system: “With our solution, we have primarily created an economical solution that makes the energy transition affordable. All of the CHP units delivered today for natural or biogas operation can be converted for operation with hydrogen at a later point in time with reasonable effort. “
