Evo Energy Technologies joins the Victorian Bioenergy Network as a Silver Member

8 October, 2025 by Evo Energy

Evo Energy Technologies is proud to announce our Silver Membership with the Victorian Bioenergy Network (VBN) — reinforcing our commitment to advancing sustainable and renewable energy across Australia.

The Victorian Bioenergy Network brings together government, industry, and regional stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of bioenergy across the state. Its focus is on fostering collaboration, supporting policy development, and driving the use of technologies that convert organic waste into renewable energy.

As a 100% Australian-owned company, Evo Energy Technologies specialises in high-efficiency cogeneration, heat recovery, and renewable gas systems, including biogas and biomethane. These solutions help industries cut emissions, recover valuable energy from waste, and improve energy resilience — aligning closely with VBN’s mission to support the growth of Victoria’s circular bioeconomy.

Our Managing Director, Travis McNeill, said:

“Joining the Victorian Bioenergy Network provides a valuable platform to collaborate with like-minded organisations and further expand the role of bioenergy in Australia’s clean energy future.”

Through this membership, Evo Energy Technologies looks forward to sharing expertise, supporting project development, and contributing to the broader conversation on renewable energy and waste-to-energy innovation in Victoria.

Kilcoy Project Wins Outstanding Biogas Project Award

26 August, 2025 by Evo Energy

Evo Energy Technologies is proud to announce that our work with Kilcoy Global Foods has been recognised at the 2025 Australian Renewable Heat Conference Awards, hosted by the Australian Alliance for Energy Productivity (A2EP). The Kilcoy Co-generation Project received the award for Outstanding Biogas Project, celebrating its role as a benchmark in renewable energy for the food industry.

The project features three Combined Heat and Power (CHP) engines with a total capacity of 4 MW, powered by biogas from onsite wastewater treatment. Supported by Evo Command heat pumps and a Biological Desulphurisation Treatment process, the system transforms waste into clean, reliable energy.

This achievement has enabled Kilcoy to become the first certified carbon-neutral large-scale beef processing facility in Australia, generating electricity equivalent to powering 4,000 homes each year while cutting reliance on grid power.

The award highlights the innovation and impact of integrating CHP, heat pumps, and advanced biogas treatment, and we are proud to have delivered this milestone in sustainable meat processing.

Renewables in Action: Visit Kia Ora Piggery During the 2025 Renewables in Ag Expo

2 June, 2025 by Evo Energy

Evo Energy Technologies is proud to be part of the upcoming National Renewables in Agriculture Conference & Expo, taking place on 23 July in Bendigo, Victoria. The event brings together leaders in farming, energy, and technology to explore how renewables are shaping the future of Australian agriculture.

One of the highlights of this year’s program is the site tour on 24 July to Kia Ora Piggery, where attendees will visit a large-scale biogas cogeneration project delivered by Evo Energy Technologies.

Supporting Sustainable Farming with Biogas CHP

At the centre of the Kia Ora project is a 160kW 2G Agenitor 404c cogeneration system, supplied by Evo Energy Technologies and housed in a 6-metre container. The system is designed to utilise biogas generated from pig waste to produce on-site electricity and heat.

This project reflects a broader shift toward smarter, decentralised energy solutions that reduce emissions, cut energy costs, and support greater sustainability in agriculture. It showcases how advanced technology can be integrated into everyday farm operations to improve long-term performance and environmental outcomes.

See the Technology Up Close

The Kia Ora site tour offers a rare opportunity to visit a major on-farm biogas energy project and gain insights into how cogeneration systems are being deployed in the agricultural sector.

Whether you’re working in agribusiness, sustainability, or energy consulting, this is a chance to explore real-world renewable energy applications designed for the future of farming.

CO2 Recovery & Environmental Impact: A Game Changer in Australia’s Energy Sector

10 January, 2024 by Evo Energy

A Glimpse into Australia’s Energy Sector Advancements

Welcome to our latest edition of the Energy Update, focusing on key developments in Australia’s energy sector over the past few months, particularly in the areas of biogas, biomethane, and CO2 recovery. These sectors are crucial for advancing Australia’s sustainable energy goals.

Biogas & Biomethane News

Innovations

The biogas industry in Australia has been gaining momentum, with methanogens harnessed for producing biogas, a mixed gas mainly composed of methane, CO2, and hydrogen sulphide. Biogas is converted into biomethane through a cleaning and upgrading process. Biogas plants, crucial to the green energy mix, process waste organic matter to produce these gases. The combustion of biogas and biomethane, similar in function to natural gas, releases energy while being carbon-neutral, as the CO2 released is part of the existing biosphere.[1]

Market Trends

The Australian biogas industry is poised for growth. In 2021, the first large-scale biogas plant was announced in Nowra, NSW. According to the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), Australia’s total estimated biogas potential is 103 terawatt hours, comparable to countries like Germany. This growth is significant as Australia, currently facing an energy crisis, sees a push from business and industry leaders for a transition to alternatives like biogas.

CO2 Recovery & Environmental Impact

Technological Breakthroughs

Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) is being pursued in Australia as a key solution for CO2 emission reduction. This technology captures and stores or utilises CO2, reducing the amount currently in, or being released into, the atmosphere. CCUS, especially when combined with direct air capture, can remove CO2 from the atmosphere, playing a vital role in emission reduction strategies.[2]

Environmental Benefits

CCUS is a proven technology crucial for industries that inherently produce CO2 in their production processes, such as cement, steel, and aluminium. Captured CO2 can be utilised to create low-emission products, offering a net-zero-compatible economic opportunity for Australia. Although the current market size for CO2 utilisation is not large enough for global climate mitigation, it presents a viable economic opportunity within Australia.[2]

Conclusion

The past few months have witnessed significant advancements in biogas, biomethane, and CO2 recovery technologies in Australia. These developments are instrumental in Australia’s pursuit of sustainable energy solutions and achieving its climate goals.
