Mount Martha Water Recycling Plant to Have Roughly 40% of Electricity Demand Met

At the end of 2018, South East Water first procured a 2G Combined Heat and Power (CHP) unit from Evo Energy Technologies for installation at their Mount Martha Water Recycling Plant (WRP). The CHP arrived in March 2020 and has been lifted into its permanent location.

The custom-built 2G combined heat and power engine is the first of its kind within the South East Water network, and is a key tool in their strategy to minimise carbon emissions and meet their Emissions Reduction Pledge by 2025.

The cogeneration engine will help South East Water meet roughly 40 per cent of the electricity demand at their Mount Martha WRP, requiring less coal-produced power from the electricity grid, and help the environment by minimising carbon emissions.

The unit is a 2G 360kW Agenitor 408 Cogeneration unit in a 9.0m x 3.0m x 3.2m Super Silent (45dBa at 10m) Highline Container module, with two tank Activated Carbon biogas scrubbing systems for removal of H2S and siloxanes and a Gas Dehumidification System.

The Mount Martha WRP has two anaerobic digesters that operate a biological process whereby organic matter is converted to produce biogas (predominantly methane). The 2G CHP unit will then use all of the biogas (as well as natural gas) to not only produce heat for the treatment process, but also electricity that can be used elsewhere in the treatment plant.

The project is nearing its completion, requiring a final installation of mechanical and electrical equipment along with the construction of the natural gas main (to supplement the fuel demand of the CHP unit). Upon completion of construction, the commissioning phase will make sure the unit seamlessly operates within the existing treatment plant.

Hyland Highway Landfill Moves to Renewable Energy!

Evo Energy Technologies is happy to announce that we are partnering with Latrobe City Council to produce renewable electricity from their landfill.

The Latrobe project consists of the following 2G equipment:

  • 900kW Avus800b Landfill Gas generator in 11.5m x 2.4m x 2.8m Gas to Power container
  • Gas dehumidification and reheating
  • 2 Activated carbon tanks for removal of siloxanes and hydrogen sulphide in landfill gas
  • Landfill gas delivery blower
  • Landfill gas analyser
  • Fresh and waste oil management system

The system, to be installed at the Hyland Highway Landfill, is expected to run continuously all year and produce approx. 7,000MWh of electricity to offset the vast majority of Latrobe City Council’s total electricity consumption.

2G Win at the Cogen Europe Recognition Awards 2019!

The Cogen Europe Recognition Awards are an annual event held to recognise individuals and organisations for their achievements in Cogeneration within the European Union. There were five award categories in this year’s awards: Policy Development, Market Development, Technology & Innovation, Spain National Award and Young CHP Leader.


2G Energy received the award for Technology & Innovation, a great achievement! 2G received the award for having developed a hydrogen-driven CHP plant solution. The company is sure that Hydrogen (H2) produced by renewable energy will play a vital role in the future and will replace natural gas.

Evo Energy Technologies to install 2G Biogas CHP at Rivalea Australia

Rivalea have recently partnered with Evo Energy and 2G to further minimise their environmental footprint & reduce energy consumption with their upcoming biogas generator installation.

Rivalea is one of Australia’s leading integrated agri-food companies. Early this year, Rivalea will be able to significantly minimise their environmental footprint with the installation of a custom built 2G Avus 500plus in a 12m container module.

Conventional power generates around only 35% of primary energy as usable electricity and the rest is released into the atmosphere. The biogas fuel used by this system is captured from the natural breakdown of pig manure and turns a waste product into an energy source. The 2G Avus500plus unit, supplied by Evo Energy offers combined heat and power technology that guarantees advanced energy efficiency of up to 90%. This means enormous cost savings as well as a massive reduction in carbon emissions.

The upcoming biogas cogeneration installation is expected to generate around 25% of the sites power per year resulting in considerable energy cost savings for Rivalea. The project is estimated to offset over 28,000 per annum tons of CO2 equivalent emissions from grid and methane emissions avoided.

2G have commenced the Rivalea custom build in their main production site based in Heek, Germany.
