Supporting Industrial Electrification Through Victoria’s Energy Innovation Fund

16 October, 2025 by Evo Energy

The Victorian Government’s Energy Innovation Fund (EIF) is now open for Round 3 applications, offering up to $2 million per project to help commercialise emerging renewable energy technologies and support Victoria’s net-zero emissions target by 2045.

This round focuses on industrial electrification within the food and beverage processing and manufacturing sector, one of Victoria’s most energy-intensive industries. The funding aims to accelerate the shift away from fossil fuels by co-funding innovative projects that adopt efficient electric alternatives, improve energy performance, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of local food production.

Key details:

  • Focus area: Electrification of Victoria’s food and beverage processing and manufacturing sector

  • Total funding pool: $10 million

  • Maximum grant amount: Up to $2 million per project (exceptions considered for high-value proposals)

  • Applications close: 1 pm AEDT, Friday 28 November 2025

  • Eligibility: Projects that demonstrate innovation, scalability, and alignment with Victoria’s energy and climate policy priorities

Through this initiative, the Victorian Government aims to enable the development and demonstration of transformational technologies that reduce emissions, enhance energy security, and maintain competitiveness as industries transition toward cleaner operations.

At Evo Energy Technologies, we’ve worked with a range of food producers and processors to deliver energy-efficient solutions that recover waste heat, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and improve operational efficiency – goals that align closely with the intent of the Energy Innovation Fund.

Evo Energy Technologies joins the Victorian Bioenergy Network as a Silver Member

8 October, 2025 by Evo Energy

Evo Energy Technologies is proud to announce our Silver Membership with the Victorian Bioenergy Network (VBN) — reinforcing our commitment to advancing sustainable and renewable energy across Australia.

The Victorian Bioenergy Network brings together government, industry, and regional stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of bioenergy across the state. Its focus is on fostering collaboration, supporting policy development, and driving the use of technologies that convert organic waste into renewable energy.

As a 100% Australian-owned company, Evo Energy Technologies specialises in high-efficiency cogeneration, heat recovery, and renewable gas systems, including biogas and biomethane. These solutions help industries cut emissions, recover valuable energy from waste, and improve energy resilience — aligning closely with VBN’s mission to support the growth of Victoria’s circular bioeconomy.

Our Managing Director, Travis McNeill, said:

“Joining the Victorian Bioenergy Network provides a valuable platform to collaborate with like-minded organisations and further expand the role of bioenergy in Australia’s clean energy future.”

Through this membership, Evo Energy Technologies looks forward to sharing expertise, supporting project development, and contributing to the broader conversation on renewable energy and waste-to-energy innovation in Victoria.

Woodman Point Facility Upgrade: Transforming Wastewater into Energy

Woodman Point 2 1

An article from Utility Magazine highlights the $238.5 million upgrade at the Woodman Point Wastewater Recovery and Reuse Facility (WRRF), where Evo Energy Technologies is supplying three 2G Avus 1500b units. These, along with advanced treatment processes, will allow the facility to produce nearly 50% of its energy on-site and cut 5,600 tonnes of CO2 annually. This project sets new standards in sludge treatment and energy recovery, showcasing our commitment to sustainability.

Pioneering Cogeneration Projects Driving Sustainability in Victoria and New South Wales

Colac2    Colac1

Stage 2 of the Colac Water Reclamation Plant project at Barwon Water is in the final stages of installation and commissioning of a second cogeneration unit—a 2G Avus 500 plus Biogas CHP. This unit, alongside the existing 360kW engine, will meet increased power demands and enhance biogas quality, driving the plant toward grid independence. The project supports Victoria’s net-zero emissions goal by converting waste into energy, benefiting the environment and community.

Simplot Project

Our 3MW project in New South Wales is advancing with great momentum! Our team has been making significant strides in installing three 1MW cogeneration units alongside a Heat Recovery Steam Generator, driving efficiency and sustainability forward. An exciting aspect of this project is the upcoming transition to biogas. Once the biogas plant is operational, these engines will shift from natural gas to biogas, reinforcing our commitment to a greener future!

Renewable Gas Alliance Update

3nfscfwbszvldv9n

Jarrod Irving, Chair of the Renewable Gas Alliance, shared promising developments in the biomethane sector. Despite the recent 2024-25 Budget not including specific biomethane incentives, the industry’s outlook remains positive. The fast-tracking of the Guarantee of Origin scheme by the Government, part of the Future Made in Australia program, will support green industries, including biomethane and biogas.

A study by Blunomy for AGIG highlights significant biomethane potential in Victoria, South Australia, and Queensland:

  • • Up to 88.3 PJ of recoverable biomethane annually
    • Creation of over 4,000 direct jobs
    • Reduction of up to 4.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions per annum

Globally, the sector is booming with a 37% increase in EU biomethane capacity, now reaching 6.4 billion cubic meters annually. This growth shows the potential for rapid scaling with supportive policies, a path Australia is starting to follow.

Renewable Fuels Meet Queensland Parliament Event

Renewable Fuels Meet Queensland Parliament
